A few years back I was reading one book “ Emotional intelligence by Denial Goleman “. While reading it I came to one topic which opened my eyes about one thing, “what is the meaning of having control over thoughts and feelings”. So, let’s go in some details.
So guys, I always think that I really have control over my mind and thoughts because I always focus on my work and just try to ignore other feelings and thoughts, in addition to that my name is Jaimin and according to one website which I found by google, the meaning of my name is “ ancient philosopher who has control over his mind and heart.” Which also made me more confident about what I am thinking of myself. But I never realise that it was my mistake. I was having a wrong understanding about having control over my mind and thoughts.
According to the book, the meaning of having control over thoughts and feelings was not to ignore our thoughts or feelings but instead of that “ to take time to think about thoughts and feelings, give reasonable conscious thoughts over it, and then proceed with appropriate decisions we take” , which was totally different from my own understanding which really shocked me. Then I thought about the definition of a book and I also find it appropriate.
I think so many times in life we get some thoughts subconsciously and have some feelings, which are really disturbing or may be opposite to our beliefs and because of that we don’t want to discuss it and we just try to suppress it and when we try to suppress anything in that way then I think it does not end of the problem but I think it is the starting with the problems. That thought or feeling will come again and again in your mind until you give it proper justice. But the thing is that how to give proper justice to this thing?
To give proper justice to any disturbing thought or feeling first thing to do is never ignore and not try to suppress it, instead of that take that thing into consideration, sit in one peaceful place and give reasonable conscious thoughts towards it and try to take decisions by taking all the things consideration and think with a big picture in mind instead of just thinking a small picture. If you follow these steps then I am sure you will get a proper answer for that feeling or thought and you can easily get rid of that and move towards the path of success and happiness.
